Mission Statement

Our vision of Clonenagh National School is of a safe and happy place where each child is
nurtured and valued in an atmosphere of fairness, tolerance and respect.  Our school promotes the holistic development of each child so that he or she may realise his/her potential as a unique individual.

Our ASD class aims to offer an autism specific learning environment within a mainstream co-educational national school. This setting facilitates optimum inclusion as part of the school community with access to mainstream activities as appropriate. We, in Clonenagh NS, want to give the highest quality of education to our children. We want the individual to grow to his/her full potential. Our aim is that this education will prepare each child for life to the best of his/her ability. We recognise and value the role of parents as the primary educator of their children.

Together we can provide the skills for a loving approach to learning. We take an eclectic
approach to teaching our pupils. We don’t subscribe exclusively to any one approach to the education of children with Autism. However, we employ an ethos that is based upon the TEACCH method.

  • We aim to foster the Christian values of respect, honesty, courtesy, responsibility, tolerance and consideration for others.
  • We endeavour to enable each child to develop his/her skills, through access to the Revised Curriculum, to the best of their ability in a safe and happy environment.
  • We cherish and foster positive, co-operative relationships between teachers, staff, pupils, parents and the wider community.
  • We value and encourage good parental communication and involvement, based on mutual trust and understanding.
